Devotion or Suppression?

Is not watching a movie for one year a form of punishment, unhealthy, or honoring my resolve to get a good rank in GATE so that I can get a good technical skills , a good college and contribute to advancing human civilization by means of Technology?

I have thought about this question a lot, and all this thought hasn't given me any meaningful answer, so I have decided to experience it this year to find my answer.

Also I want to let go of some things for an year because i want to show myself that what i want is actually much more than these small pleasures and that i can live without them.

I have decided to devote:

  1. No Movies : i love watching movies because they open my perspective
  2. No Junk Food : Junk food acts as my mood stabilizer whenever i feel deep in a pit. I think it's unhealthy psychologically for me too but it feels too relieving when i am at my lows.
  3. Youtube, Instagram, and Reddit, Quora : These platforms allow me to numb my sufferings and forget them.
  4. Time spent worrying about success/failure/future: I really like this, it's my favorite pass-time activity. I have decided to devote this to Action towards getting better at electronics, physics, technology, or humanities. There's so much to do in life, cant afford to spend tine worrying.
  5. Sleeping late at night: This is probably the hardest; I generally get a lot of insight about my life when i am awake late at night. But it messes with my routine and I cant consistently study for long hours sleeping late and it's also possible to get similar insights during day times. I have decided not to sleep late for this year.
Let's see where this thing goes. I am optimistic!
